Lacrosse Falls To No. 4 Georgetown, 12-8

Newton, Mass. - The Boston College women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Georgetown, 12-8, today at the Newton Campus Lacrosse Complex. Susie Breaznell netted a season-high five goals for the Eagles in the Big East contest.
In the first half, Georgetown (8-2-0, 3-0-0) opened up the scoring with two straight goals in the first three minutes of play.
At 20:03, Breaznell started a run of three consecutive scores for the Eagles (6-4-0, 1-3-0) with her first goal of the day. Less than three minutes later, Elizabeth Kadison connected on a free position shot to even the score at two. Lizette Blohm gave BC the lead at 11:45 when she notched an unassisted tally.
The Hoyas scored four straight goals to take a 6-3 advantage.
With 3:07 remaining in the opening half, Breaznell tallied her second of the game off a pass from Elizabeth Kadison. At 1:36 Carley St. Lucia found an open Katherine Wagoner who netted her first of the day.
The Eagles headed into the break trailing 7-5. In the first half, Georgetown out-shot BC 13-8.
In the second half, Breaznell cut Georgetown's lead to one at 23:29. The senior found the back of the net on a free position shot.
The Hoyas responded with two straight goals give them a 9-6 edge.
At 16:07 Breaznell again brought the Eagles within two with an unassisted score. Georgetown added three more goals and Breaznell scored her fifth goal of the day on a free position shot with one second remaining in regulation.
The Eagles won eight draw controls and Breaznell dominated the draws by winning half. Jackie Yovankin continued to pick up the groundballs for BC. The senior scooped up four on the day and leads the team with 27.
Georgetown out-shot BC 23-17 on the game.
In goal, Courtney Zwirko and Tara McKennett combined for four saves for the Eagles and Sarah Robinson made seven saves for the Hoyas.
BC will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. on Saturday, April 16 to face the Orange in Big East action. The game starts at 1 p.m.
