Baseball Shuts Out Navy, 16-0

The Boston College baseball team completed a series sweep of Navy on Sunday, defeating the Midshipmen 16-0 in Annapolis, Md.
Six players had multi-hit games for BC. Drew Locke, Jared Mcguire and Marco Albano had three hits apiece. Locke was 3-for-6 with three RBIs and Albano was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and three runs scored. McGuire was also 3-for-4 and had eight hits in the series.
BC got on the board early, sending nine batters to the plate and scoring four runs in the top of the first. Shawn McGill knocked in BC's first run of the day with a single through the left side, scoring Ryan Hutchinson. Tom Mackor also had a two-run single in the inning.
In the top of the fourth, with the Eagles leading 7-0, Hutchinson led off with an infield single and McGuire followed with a single to left. Senior Jason Delaney then proceeded to hit his fourth home run of the season, giving BC a 10-0 lead.
The score remained that way until the eighth inning, when the Eagles scored six runs. Albano had a three-run triple during the rally.
Junior pitcher Nate Jeanes threw six innings of scoreless ball for BC. He scattered two hits en route to his first win of the season.
The Eagles outscored Navy 38-4 in the three games, and pounded out 49 total hits. After starting the season 0-4, BC has won 11 of its last 12 games and is 11-5 on the year.
BC opens the Big East portion of its schedule on Thursday with a doubleheader at West Virginia.
