Seven-game winning streak comes to an end

BRIGHTON, Mass. - No. 22 Boston College Baseball (31-13, 14-7 ACC) dropped a 6-4 decision to Maine (12-24, 7-5 America East) on Tuesday afternoon at the Harrington Athletics Village.

Julio Solier went 3-5 at the plate with three stolen bases. Five pitchers took the mound for BC, with Jacob Burnham getting the start and going three innings.

The Black Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before tacking on a third run with a solo home run from Troy Carpenter.

Boston College tied things up with a three-run fourth inning. Carter Hendrickson started the inning off with BC's first extra base hit of the day with a double. Luke Gallo sent him home on the next at-bat with a single through the right side of the infield.

Gallo scored shortly after through a single to center field from Solier. Later in the inning, Nick Wang was walked with the bases loaded to bring Colin Larson across the plate.

Maine regained the lead in the next half inning when Albert DeLaRosa hit a double to left center to score Hunter St. Denis from third.

The Eagles once again tied up the game in the bottom of the eighth when Wang hit his eighth sacrifice fly of the year, a new program record, to bring Ty Mainolfi in from third base.

Juju Stevens put the Black Bears back in the lead in the top of the ninth with a two-run home run to give Maine a 6-4 lead.

Up Next: The Eagles travel to Notre Dame this weekend for a three-game series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
