Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College baseball team's Diamond Club will hold its 14th annual "Baseball Night in Boston" on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006. The event will be held in the new Yawkey Athletics Center, beginning at 6 p.m. Special guest Terry Francona will be in attendance.
The annual Baseball Night event benefits the Boston College Baseball program. Traditionally held at Fenway Park, this year's event is being held on campus due to ongoing construction on Yawkey Way. Proceeds from the dinner and auction support scholarships and program enhancements.
Francona has led the Red Sox to two postseason appearances in his two seasons in Boston. He led the team to its first World Series title since 1918 in 2004. A former first-round draft pick of the Montreal Expos, Francona enjoyed a 12-year playing career, including 10 in the major leagues before beginning his coaching career.
Tickets for Baseball Night are limited and may be obtained by calling the Boston College Athletic Development Office at (617) 552-0772.
