Lacrosse Announces New Assistant Coach

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Kevin O'Brien, a 1999 Georgetown University graduate and standout lacrosse player, has been named as a second assistant for the women's lacrosse team, head coach Bowen Holden announced. O'Brien joins head coach Bowen Holden in her inaugural season with BC and first year assistant Katieanne Christian.
"Kevin O'Brien is a great addition to our staff, as he brings significant coaching experience and on field success with him," Holden said. "His presence will certainly help our goalies and team achieve. I am particularly excited to have a fellow Lincoln-Sudbury and Georgetown graduate assist me as we build this program into a national contender."
O'Brien has been a part of the Major League Lacrosse team, the Boston Canons, since 2001. In 2003 O'Brien recorded 15 or more saves in the first give games of the season and then recorded 20 or more saves twice after that. That same year he was named a MLL All-Star. In 2004, O'Brien saved a then MLL Record 33 shots and was named MLL Defensive Player of the Week.
O'Brien has been an assistant coach for the Boston University women's lacrosse team. He also was a former assistant for the Harvard University men's lacrosse team. In 1994 O'Brien helped lead Lincoln-Sudbury High School to the Massachusetts State Championship. He was named the 1994 High School Goalie of the Year by The Boston Globe.
O'Brien currently resides in Newton with his wife Kim Mc Manama O'Brien who received her master's degree from Boston College.
