Journal 1 - Flight To Sydney - New Year's Eve
January 11, 2005 | Lacrosse
Our long journey Down Under started outside Conte Forum around 11:30 a.m. on December 29th. We arrived at Logan Airport around noon and went through about an hour and a half of baggage check-in and waiting in lines. We finally boarded at 3:00 p.m. for a six-hour flight to Los Angeles. While most people were fine with the flight, there were some of us who don't enjoy flying as much. Our next flight left at 10:20 L.A.-time, and needless to say the plane was humongous! With a 14-hour flight ahead of us, most people expected more legroom and comfortable seats...but the service was friendly and the movies were entertaining. Not quite sure how December 30th vanished in the middle of the Pacific, but we landed in Sydney bright and early on the morning of December 31st. We spent the day exploring Darling Harbor, which was an area filled with shops, outdoor entertainment, and people ready to celebrate the New Year. That night, after a fireworks show in Darling Harbor, our team hit the town. The nightlife in Sydney proved to be full of adventure, not to mention a tad bit on the pricey side. Having New Years Eve as the first of our days down under set the tone for an amazing vacation.
