Senior Josh DiScipio (Schenectady, N.Y.) hit a grand slam to hoist the Boston College baseball team, 11-3, over Dartmouth, Wednesday, May 5 in Hanover, N.H. BC improved to 22-21 while the Big Green fell to 25-15.
BC pitching limited Dartmouth to three hits through the first 6.0 innings and a total of seven hits in the nine-inning game. Eagles bats heated up as well as all nine starters stroked a hit, combining for 19 hits, which matched the 2004 squad's season high.
Junior Mike Wlodarczyk (Medford, N.J.) picked up his fourth win of the season. He gave up two runs on three hits in 5.0 innings, while fanning five and not issuing a walk. Classmate Jake Marsello (Lynn, Mass.) started the Eagles off right, throwing a two-hitter through the first 3.0 innings.
DiScipio's grand slam constituted part of a five-run, five-hit, fifth inning effort for the Eagles. That was one of three hits and five RBI for DiScipio on the day. Ryan Leahy (Salem, Mass.) and Drew Locke (Weymouth, Mass.) also contributed three hits while four other Eagles each posted a pair of hits.
BC hosts CCSU, Thursday, May 6. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
