Providence, R.I. - The Boston College softball team won a pair of games over Providence Sunday afternoon in BIG EAST action at Raymond Field. The Eagles took the first game, 1-0, and the second game, 4-0. With the wins, the Eagles are currently 30-21 overall and 9-9 in the conference.
Game One - Boston College 1, Providence 0
Britney Thompson's (Bountiful, Utah) lead-off home run to dead center field in the fifth inning proved to be the difference in this contest. The Eagles collected just two hits, both coming in the fifth inning, but Thompson's seventh homer of the season proved to be the game winner.
Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif.) posted the win on the mound, improving to 9-7 in the process. Malandris was masterful, striking out six while scattering three hits in the complete-game win. It was her fourth shutout win of the season.

The Eagles put two early runs up on the board to open the game. Taking advantage of an Ashley Obrest (Elmwood Park, Ill.) RBI single and a Providence error, BC took a quick 2-0 lead.
An Obrest RBI double and two Friar errors accounted for another BC run and a 3-0 lead for the Eagles through six innings. Thompson belted her second homer of the afternoon for an insurance run and the final 4-0 victory.
Malandris pitched back-to-back wins, improving to 10-7 with four innings. She struck out two and walked just one. Thompson pitched three innings of relief, fanning three.
