The Boston College baseball team (3-8-0) dropped a 1-0 decision to IPFW, Sunday, March 7.
IPFW's Ryan Steinbach singled to right center and advanced to third when Drew Locke (Weymouth, Mass.) misplayed the single in the bottom of the sixth inning. He then came home for the game-winning run on David Zachary's single up the middle off starting pitcher Kevin Shepard (Andover, Mass.).
BC was 90 feet away from a tie in their final at bat. The Eagles loaded the bases in the ninth on singles by Morgan and Locke, and Garrett Greer's sacrifice bunt moved them up, leaving a spot for Jason Delaney to go to first on an intentional walk. Junior Mike Flynn's (Trumbull, Conn.) flare foul to the first baseman Tyler Fowler surprised everyone as Fowler then tagged Jason Delaney (Hanson, Mass.) up at first for the second and third outs.
Shepard took the loss for BC, he gave up four hits through six innings. Freshman Kevin Boggan took over in the seventh inning, striking out two in two innings of work.
