Softball Sweeps Georgia Southern

Statesboro, Ga. - The Boston College softball team scored 10 runs on 17 hits to sweep a doubleheader from Georgia Southern Saturday afternoon, wrapping up its week-long spring break trip. The Eagles topped Georgia Southern 4-2 and 6-0 to improve to 12-9 overall.
In the first game, the Eagles pounded out five hits behind a 2-for-3 effort from Kimmy Hopkin (Dove Canyon, Calif.). Freshman Britney Thompson (Bountiful, Utah) collected the win in the circle, tallying six strikeouts. She improved to 6-4 on the season.
Senior Tekae Malandris (Chula Vista, Calif.) pitched the second win of the afternoon, collecting 10 strikeouts. The Eagles tallied eight hits on the afternoon as five different played knocked in a run. Freshman infielder Jenna Macchi (Milford, Mass.) led the way with a pair of RBI.
Boston College will be idle until March 20-21 when it will participate in the Maryland Terrapin Invitational in College Park, Md.
