Sophomore Jared Dudley recorded 18 points and 10 points and senior Nate Doornekamp tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Boston College to an 84-62 non-league victory over New Hampshire before 3,782 fans in Conte Forum.
For Dudley, the game marked his fourth collegiate double-double. For Doornekamp, the double-double was his first and his 10 rebounds were a career-high.
Junior Craig Smith, making his season debut after recovering from an illness, contributed 13 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
Boston College (2-0) trailed 13-3 just more than four minutes into the contest, but rallied to lead 38-31 at halftime. Led by nine consecutive points from junior Louis Hinnant, the host Eagles scored the first 11 points of the second half to gain a 49-31 advantage. New Hampshire (2-1) never got closer than 13 points the rest of the way.
Senior Jermaine Watson, also making his season debut, tallied 16 points, including 8-for-8 shooting from the foul line. BC sank 19-of-20 free throws on the night, the program's best single-game free-throw percentage since shooting 96.6 percent against Providence on Feb. 1, 1996.
Dudley notched 14 points and nine rebounds to pace the Eagles in the first 20 minutes. Watson led BC with 10 second-half points, while Smith and Hinnant each netted nine points after the intermission.
Game Notes: BC committed just seven turnovers, while UNH turned the ball over 14 times ... BC gained a 48-33 rebounding edge ... Freshman Sean Williams contributed two points, five rebounds and three blocked shots in 14 minutes of work ... Classmate Akida McLain added six points and six rebounds in 11 minutes.
