Lambert, Shepard, Locke To Play In NEIBA All-Star Game

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore pitchers Chris Lambert (Manchester, N.H.) and Kevin Shepard (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore rightfielder Drew Locke (Weymouth, Mass.) have been selected to play in the 29th annual New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association (NEIBA) All-Star Game
The game, which features the University Division (Division I) against the College Division (Division II and III), will be held Thursday, May 29 at noon at Fenway Park. Tickets are general admission and will be sold for $3 at Gate D.
This is the second year in a row that first-teamers Lambert and Locke will participate in the game. Shepard's second-team nomination is his first.
Lambert, a First Team All-BIG EAST selection, went 8-2 with a 2.71 earned run average in 79.1 innings. He tied for the conference lead in strikeouts (88), was fifth in ERA, tied for fourth in wins, second in opponents batting average (.216), fifth in innings pitched and second in complete games (7).
Locke hit a team-best .354 with four home runs, 29 runs batted in and 33 runs scored. He led the club in doubles (14), slugging (.540) and on base percentage (.420), and was successful on nine of his 11 stolen base attempts.
Shepard went 8-3 with a BIG EAST-best 2.44 ERA in 70.0 innings this season. His ERA also ranks 41st in the country. He tied Lambert and two other pitchers for fourth in the conference in wins and was 10th in innings pitched.
