CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's lacrosse star Jacklyn Yovankin was named to the 2003 Brine Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse Division I All-Northeast Region second team, as announced today by Duke head coach Kerstin Kimel, chair of the IWLCA Division I All-America Committee.
The Eagles' star midfielder adds this accolade to a long list of praise after a sophomore season where she was also named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team and earned All-BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors twice.
In her second year, Yovankin led the Eagles in several statistical categories. She gathered 89 groundballs, won 34 draw controls and caused 33 turnovers, to finish among conference and NCAA leaders in each area. Yovankin also contributed 13 goals and assisted on seven others to make her presence felt offensively as BC posted its first winning season in recent history with a 9-6 mark.
