Softball Shutout By Notre Dame, 11-0

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The Boston College softball team dropped an 11-0 decision to Notre Dame Saturday afternoon at Shea Field. The Eagles could not end Notre Dame's 20-game win streak and fell to 25-15 overall and 9-2 in the BIG EAST with the five-inning loss. Notre Dame improves to 30-11 overall and a perfect 11-0 in the conference. The second game of the doubleheader was rained out.
Notre Dame struck early, scoring five runs in the first inning on three hits and two BC fielding errors. In the stanza, Notre Dame's Lisa Mattison belted a two-run homerun to right center field. The Fighting Irish lead would stand through the game.
Notre Dame added three runs in the second inning and a single run in each of the following three stanzas for the final 11-0 margin. Boston College's lone hit game on a Lisa Fischer (Coopersburg, Pa.) single in the fourth inning.
BC used all three of its pitchers with Kim Ryan (Bay Shore, N.Y.) taking the loss. She is currently 12-4 overall.
Boston College will host a conference doubleheader against Syracuse Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The Eagles will host Rutgers in a conference make-up game Tuesday at 2:00 p.m.
