
Breaznell Leads Women's Lacrosse Past Fairfield

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Susie Breaznell scored four goals to lead the Boston College women's lacrosse team (3-3) to a 14-4 victory over Fairfield University (1-4) at Alumni Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
Fairfield took an early lead, scoring almost five minutes into the game, but Breaznell tied the game at one, and the Eagles would not trail again. The Stags knotted the score at two, but then fell quiet, not getting another goal until the 16:00 mark of the second half. Boston College took a 5-2 advantage into the halftime break, and would go up as much as 8-2 before letting the Stags could strike again.
Breaznell led all scorers with four goals, while Carley St. Lucia and Courtney Legath each had two goals and assisted on another for BC. Juniors Meggie O'Neill and Kathleen Gallagher each had productive two-point outings, each recording a goal and an assist. Lizette Blohm, Liz Fayad, Alana Vivolo and Caitlin Bracken put one ball in the net as well. Freshman Brooke Wilson earned her first point as an Eagle, setting up Gallagher's goal late in the second half.
Freshman Tara McKennett made 11 saves for BC, while her teammates peppered Fairfield's Monica Janowitz, who denied 17 Eagle shots.
Boston College will return to action on Tuesday, April 1. The Eagles will host the University of New Hampshire at 7 p.m. in Alumni Stadium.
