Two Baseball Players Gain Summer Honors

Boston College's Josh DiScipio and Chris Lambert both captured All-League honors in the 2002 New England Collegiate Baseball League, according to an announcement made by the league office.
DiScipio, who will begin his junior year at the Heights next month, gained first team accolades, while Lambert, who will be a sophomore, was a second-team selection. Both players played for the Concord (N.H.) Quarry Dogs.
DiScipio finished the summer with a .355 batting average, a .452 slugging percentage and a .439 on-base percentage. The Schenectady, N.Y. product also stole 12 bases. DiScipio hit .315 in 53 games for the Eagles this past spring.
Lambert, a right-handed pitcher from Manchester, N.H., compiled a 3-2 record and a 1.55 earned run average for Concord this summer. He recorded 72 strikeouts in 46.3 innings. He limited opponents to a .174 batting average. In his first year at Boston College, he posted a 9-3 record and a 2.76 earned run average.
Lambert earned 2002 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Northeast Region honors for his effort with the Eagles. He was also recognized as the BIG EAST Conference's Pitcher of the Year as well as its Rookie of the Year.
Boston College finished the 2002 season with a 30-25 record, earning its second BIG EAST Tournament berth in the last three years.
