Three Baseball Players Earn All-Northeast Region Honors

Boston College freshman Chris Lambert, senior Brian Durkin and senior Mark Sullivan earned 2002 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-Northeast Region honors, according to an announcement made by the coaches' Northeast Region selection committee.
Lambert captured All-Northeast Region first team honors, while Durkin and Sullivan both gained second team honors.
Lambert, a right-handed pitcher from Manchester, N.H., posted a 9-3 record and a 2.76 earned run average in his first collegiate campaign. He threw five complete games. He was previously recognized as the BIG EAST Conference's Pitcher of the Year as well as its Rookie of the Year. He also earned Freshman All-America accolades from Collegiate Baseball magazine.
Durkin, a designated hitter from Lowell, Mass., finished his senior season with a .263 batting average. He recorded 50 RBI, while hitting a team-high 14 home runs. Durkin, who, had a .531 slugging percentage, was previously honored as an All-BIG EAST first team selection. A fine student, he also gained GTE/CoSIDA District I Academic All-America honors.
Sullivan, a right-handed pitcher from Winchester, Mass., completed his final season with a 10-3 mark. He recorded a 5.96 earned run average in a team-high 96.2 innings of work. The senior made 15 appearances, including 14 starts. His 10 wins placed him first among BIG EAST pitchers, while his 94 strikeouts ranked second in the conference.
Boston College finished the 2002 season with a 30-25 record, earning its second BIG EAST Tournament berth in the last three years.
