Hamden, Conn. - The Boston College men's lacrosse team lost a hard-fought game on Saturday afternoon to Quinnipiac College at Hamden, Conn. The Eagle's took the loss despite scoring in each of the four quarters of the game. Sophomore Alex Gschwend, juniors Ted Cella and Bryan Albano, and senior Rory Smith each contributed a goal to the eagle effort. Sophomore Kevin Dunphy added an assists for the Eagles. With the loss, Boston College falls to 0-6 on the season while Quinnipiac improves to 4-4.
Quinnipiac struck early in the first quarter with two goals from senior Mike Baglio. The teams fought back and forth the rest of the quarter before Alex Gschwend finally got the Eagles on the board with 0:24 left in the first. The second quarter was dominated by tight defense on both sides of the field. The only two goals scored in the quarter came towards the end, one by each team. Quinnipiac scored the first at 4:31 and BC's Ted Cella scored with 1:09 left. The score was 3-2 in favor of Quinnipiac at the half. Quinnipiac came out strong after the break and put two quick goals past eagle keeper James Karambay. However, the eagles struck back quickly with 9:12 as Kevin Dunphy found Bryan Albano in front of the net who put in the back of the net. Quinnipiac added another score before the end of the quarter. Rory Smith started the scoring in the fourth quarter before Quinnipiac exploded with three goals in a three-minute span.
The Eagle's will next take the field this Wednesday, April 10 at Hartford College in Hartford, Conn. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
