CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Freshman outfielder Drew Locke (Weymouth, Mass.) became Boston College's fourth baseball player to earned BIG EAST co-Player of the Week honors. Locke was an instrumental player in helping the Eagles go 4-0 this past weekend in conference play.
Locke completed the weekend series with West Virginia and Georgetown going 10-for-17 from the plate, which comes out to be a .588 batting average. Of his 10 hits on the weekend, six of them were doubles. He also helped the team out by scoring eight runs and driving in three runs.
The freshman joins senior right fielder Brian Macchi, junior first baseman Vinny Scavone and freshman Jason Delaney as the other Boston College players to earn conference player of the week honors.
Boston College (19-13, 10-4 BIG EAST), who now stands in first place in the BIG EAST by two games, is back in action at 2 p.m. Tuesday when it takes on in-state rival UMass-Amherst in the first round of the 13th-annual Beanpot tournament at historic Fenway Park in Boston.
