CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Boston College women's lacrosse team lost to Harvard University, 11-4, on Tuesday afternoon at Jordan Field. Senior co-captain Lauren Miller scored three goals and freshman goalkeeper Michelle Lawson made six second half saves for the Eagles. With the loss, BC drops to 2-1 on the season, while Harvard improves to 1-1.
The Crimson came out firing in the first half and poor BC defending, coupled with accurate shots launched the home team to an early 4-0 advantage. Miller put the Eagles on the board at the halfway point of the half, taking a feed from freshman Courtney Legath and bouncing a shot past Crimson goalkeeper Laura Mancini. Harvard would respond, scoring the next three goals, taking the Eagles completely out of the match. Miller would add a second goal with time winding down in the half to cut the deficit to five goals at the break.
Head Coach Shari Krasnoo's talk at halftime seemed to fire up her squad as BC scored two quick goals in the second half, Miller's third of the game, 11th of the season and Legath's eighth of the season, to pull within three at 7-4. But it was not to be Eagles' afternoon and the Crimson finished off the match, scoring the final four goals.
Boston College returns to action on Sunday, Mar. 17 at Notre Dame University. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
