Sky-high following Saturday's 14-7 win over fourth-ranked Notre Dame in South Bend, the Boston College football team has returned home to focus on the next task at hand - a BIG EAST clash with the 6-3 West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown. ESPN announced Sunday it would televise the game; kickoff is slated for noon EST.
While the Eagles celebrate a Saturday in which they marched into Notre Dame Stadium and handed the 8-0 green-clad Irish their first defeat of the season, coach Tom O'Brien says it's important for his team to focus on the task at hand.
"It (Notre Dame) is such a huge game for our school, but our goal as a coaching staff is to make sure they get focused on West Virginia," O'Brien says. "I'm sure once the players start looking at tape they will, because West Virginia is playing extremely well. It will be a tremendous challenge for us."
The Eagles are looking for their sixth win of the season, which would make them bowl eligible and in the hunt for a postseason berth for a school-record fourth straight year. The West Virginia game is of particular importance to the Eagles, who are looking for their first conference win of the season after frustrating losses to Miami, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh, three teams with a combined record of 23-3. But the Eagles will face a daunting task against a much-improved West Virginia squad celebrating Senior Day at Mountaineer Field.
"Our players were able to rebound a week ago, after a devastating loss to Pittsburgh," O'Brien says. "Now we're going to have to do the same thing to focus on West Virginia."
