WACO, Texas - Boston College senior offensive guard John Richardson (Cincinnati, Ohio) has been named to the 2001 American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. The team honors players for their dedication and commitment to community service. From 1992-96, the Good Works Team was selected by the College Football Association. When the CFA disbanded in 1997, the AFCA began selecting the teams. A team is named for Division I-A and another for Divisions I-AA, II, III and NAIA combined.
Richardson is a founder of "Another Choice on Campus," at BC - a social group that sponsors substance-free evens on and off campus and provided a social element for peer education. The group is currently in its third year.
Richardson also serves as a volunteer at the BC Campus School, which serves student with multiple disabilities. He is an active member of the Voices of Imani Choir, a gospel singing group on campus, and has taught at the May Center in the Boston area, a vocational school for students with autism that helps them adapt to real life situations.
He also has served as an orientation leader at BC and performed the national anthem before BC men's and women's basketball games.
Richardson, a fifth-year senior for the Eagles, graduated from the College of Arts and Sciences at BC last spring with a degree in psychology and is currently working on a master's degree in counseling psychology.
