Women's Rowing Continues To Improve

NORTH HAMPTON, Mass. - The Boston College women's rowing team continued to improve their times today as they competed against Connecticut, Delaware and Massachusetts in North Hampton, Mass. The Eagles won the varsity eight and the varsity four events.
Boston College won the varsity eight event by less than a second when the crew rowed a 6:13.7. Massachusetts took second with a 6:14.3, followed by Delaware and Connecticut. In the stroke seat was Mary Cooley, followed by Kristin Henny, Alex Kazanovicz, Andrea Achimovic, Kristin Cary, Cate Boron, Amelia Stephens, Ellie Gregory in the bow seat and Natalie Alderete as the coxswain.
In the second varsity eight, the Eagles took second with a 6:34.8 behind Massachusetts crew A, who rowed a 6:27.3. Rowing in the stroke seat was Lucia Romeo, followed by Julie Todhunter, Terri Cojohn, Katie Miller, Martha Tierney, Claire Dennison, Kelly Griffin, Lauren Lehane in the bow seat and Vicky Haley was the coxswain. Massachusetts B took third, Delaware was fourth and Connecticut came in fifth.
Taking first in the varsity four, was Boston College with a 7:22.4. In second was the only competition, Massachusetts with 7:24.4. The coxswain was Bridgette Stewart, the stroke seat was rowed by Ellen Gallager, in the third seat was Tianna Morrison, in the second seat was Kate McDonough and rowing in the bow seat was Kim Donohue.
Delaware won the first novice eight with a 6:38.0 and Boston College was the runner up with a 6:44.4. In third was Massachusetts and fourth was Connecticut. Rowing in the stroke seat was Anne Nelson followed, by Katie Stainken, Katie Meehan, Megan Olmstead, Holly Rothe, Andrea Overall, Kim Rothrock and Lindsay Williamson in the bow seat. The coxswain was Beth McGrimley.
In the second novice eight, Delaware won with a 7:00.1 and Massachusetts was second with a 7:04.3 and Boston College took third with a 7:19.5. In the stroke seat was Jessica Walker, followed by Jetta Sandin, Vanessa Rose, Carmen Poo, Brianne Moskovitz, Courtney Shea, Megan Monaghan, Jean Kim in the bow seat and Lauren Ippolito as the coxswain.
The Boston College women's rowing team will competed against New Hampshire, tomorrow, Sunday, April 8, in Cambridge, Mass. on Charles River. The regatta is schedule to begin at 8:00 a.m.
