Women's Rowing Hosted First Dual As A Varsity Team

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Boston College women's rowing team hosted the first of their two duals, today, in Cambridge, Mass., on the Charles River. Despite the cold, rainy weather, the Eagles won four of five races.
With a time of 7:03.00, Boston College's first varsity eight defeated New Hampshire who raced a 7:17.00. The first varsity eight was stroked by Mary Cooley, followed by Kristin Henny, Alex Kazanovicz, Andrea Achimovic, Kristin Cary, Cate Boron, Amelia Stephens, Ellie Gregory in the bow seat and Vicky Haley as the coxswain.
The Eagle's second varsity eight crew also won their race, with a time of 7:21.32. The Wildcats finished with a time of 7:42.26. In the stroke seat was Lucia Romeo, followed by Julie Todhunter, Terri Cojohn, Katie Miller, Martha Tierney, Claire Dennison, Kelly Griffin, Lauren Lehane in the bow seat and Natalie Alderete was the coxswain.
Racing a 8:34.35, Boston College's varsity four crew defeated New Hampshire who raced a 8:59.78. Rowing in the stroke seat was Ellen Gallagher, Tiana Morrison was in the three seat, Kate McDonough was in the two seat, Kim Donohue was in the bow seat and Bridgette Stewart was the coxswain.
In the first novice eight race, Boston College won, rowing a 7:23.00, while New Hampshire rowed a 7:31.00. Rowing in the stroke seat was Anne Nelson followed by Katie Stainken, Katie Meehan, Megan Olmstead, Holly Rothe, Andrea Overall, Kim Rothrock and Lindsay Williamson in the bow seat. The coxswain was Beth McGrimley.
Taking second in the second novice eight, BC rowed a 8:05.32 and New Hampshire won with a 7:50.1. In the stoke seat of the second novice eight, was Jessica Walker, followed by Jetta Sandin, Vanessa Rose, Carmen Poo, Brianne Moskovitz, Courtney Shea, Megan Monaghan, Jillian Baer in the bow seat and Lindsay Thorne-Bingham was the coxswain.
The Boston College rowing team will host Colby and Coast Guard on Sat., April 8, 2001, in Cambridge, Mass., on the Charles River. The dual is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m.
