LAKELAND, Fla. - - Paul Knapic allowed only five hits in 7.0 innings, and Joe Kealty went 4-for-5 as Boston College (2-5) defeated Michigan 8-2 Saturday at Henley Field. Knapic struck out six and surrendered only three walks for his second victory of the year.
Michael Hubbard and Jarett Mendoza each contributed a pair of hits, including RBI singles. Junior Brian Durkin slammed his first home run of the season, a bomb to left field in the eighth inning.
The Eagles grabbed a 3-0 lead in the third inning when Kealty and Mendoza connected on RBI singles and Chris Rosado had a sacrifice bunt down the first base line. In addition to Kealty's second RBI of the day, Macchi pushed across a run to give the Eagles a 6-1 advantage through five innings. Hubbard and Durkin plated BC's final two runs.
