Softball Takes Two at Torero Inviational

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Boston College softball team took its first two games of the Torero Invitational in San Diego on Friday, defeating Portland State 2-1and Brigham Young 2-0.
In the first game, Jennifer Asbury went 2-for-3 and drove in a run to lead the Eagles over Portland State. Lisa Fischer continued her hot hitting, going 2-for-2 and scoring a run. Kimberly Ryan pitched a complete game, striking out four batters and only allowing three hits for one earned run. Portland State pitcher Morgan Seibert struck out seven Eagles in the loss.
Portland State took a 1-0 lead in the third, but the Eagles tied it in the bottom of the inning. The Eagles struck again in the bottom of the sixth and held on in the seventh for the win.
In the second game, Tekae Malandris struck out seven as she shut out Brigham Young, 2-0. Alison Erbig went 3-for-4, while both Summer Jarratt and Erin Mackey went 1-for-3 and drove home one. The game was called after six innings due to inclement weather.
BC got on the board first in the second inning and then added a second run in the fourth. Malandris allowed only one hit in the game for the win.
Boston College will continue play in the Torero Invitational at the University of San Diego with games against Northern Iowa and the host Toreros today. The team concludes it spring trip with a fifth game in the tournament on Sunday against Tulsa.
BC stands at 9-8 overall.
