BOCA RATON, Fla. - Captain Mike Hubbard had five RBIs to lead Boston College (6-5) past Monmouth 14-6 Friday March 9 in Boca Raton, Fla.
Hubbard went 3-for-4 with a grand slam in the second inning and sacrifice fly in the fourth. The shortstop also scored three runs. Brian Macchi was 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. Both Chris Rosado and Jeff Mackor contributed a pair of hits to help the Eagles' 15-hit cause.
Jed Rogers threw a two-hitter and shutout through four innings until Monmouth catcher CJ DeFilippo powered a three-run home run. Rogers finished with a career-high six strikeouts, surrendering four runs on five hits in 6.0 innings to register the win. Freshmen Mike Gauthier earned his first save, posting a season-high five strikeouts in 3.0 innings.
BC faces Wagner March 10 at Florida Atlantic's secondary field. Game time is 12:30 p.m.
