CHESTNUT HILL - Junior Kenny Walls and sophomore Troy Bell each scored 21 points to lead five Boston College players in double figures as the Eagles defeated the California All-Stars by a 97-77 score in exhibition basketball action on Monday night. The tune-up was the final exhibition game of the season for BC as the Eagles open regular season play against St. Peter's on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Senior Xavier Singletary added 15 points for BC while senior Kenny Harley added 11 and sophomore Uka Agbai had 10. Freshman Ryan Sidney was the leading rebounder for the Eagles with seven.
The California All-Stars also had five players in double figures led by Kris Weems, a former Stanford player, with 19 points.
The All-Star went out to a 24-8 lead in the first 9:03 of the game before the Eagles closed the gap to three, 40-37, at halftime. Boston College took control of the game as it went out on an 8-0 run to take a 54-45 lead with 14:12 left to play. The Eagle lead went over 20 point for the first time with 4:38 left to play as Bell hit a three-pointer to make it 81-59 BC.
