Chestnut Hill, Mass--THe Volleyball team competed in their first spring tournament this past weekend against the best teams in the New England area.
"We were very fortunate to have the likes of the University of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire at our tournament. I intentionally invited those teams so that we could better see where we are as a program by playing against solid competition. They are great teams with great coaches and we learned a lot this past weekend", explained Hadel.
The team was without star setter Kyleen Charlton(Tampa, FL) for two of the four matches because she is just returning from a two month lay-off from wrist surgery. Hadel says that the team's performance just elevates with Charlton on the floor. "She is one of the top setter in the BIG EAST, second to only Denise Boylan at Notre Dame", says Hadel.
As for everyone else on the team, Laura Delong(Bay Village, OH) turned it on at the end of the day and was terminating every ball she touched. Kristin Sprinkel(Laguana, CA) and Amy Chivarini(Irvine, CA) continue to improve. Julia El-Hag(Bedford, N.Y.) continues to show why she is one of the best on the team with her solid game, especially on defense.
The Eagles will host a second spring tournament on April 25. Game time is yet to be determined.
