BOSTON (AP) - John Vereen scored on an 8-yard run with 1:41 left, capping a 22-point fourth quarter that gave Navy a 32-31 win over Boston College on Saturday.
Boston College had a chance to win on the final play of the game, but John Matich's 40-yard field goal attempt hooked left. It was the fourth straight loss for the Eagles (3-4).
Navy (3-4) overcame a 28-10 deficit for its second straight comeback victory. Last week, the Midshipmen rallied for 21 fourth-quarter points to beat Colgate 42-35.
After Boston College took a 31-25 lead with 4 1/2 minutes left on a 43-yard field goal by Matich, Navy marched 71 yards in eight plays and took the lead on Vereen's second TD run of the game. The key play of the drive was a 48-yard pass from receiver Ronel Reyes to Jason Wolf, which moved the ball to the BC 15.
Following Vereen's go-ahead score, Boston College's Scott Mutryn fumbled on the next possession with just over a minute left. But Navy's Tom Vanderhorst missed a 34-yard field goal attempt and the Eagles took over at their 20 with 41 seconds remaining and no timeouts.
Mutryn, who completed 30 of 45 passes for 369 yards and two touchdowns, hit 5 of 6 passes to move the ball to Navy's 22, but Matich missed as time expired.
BC's Mike Cloud posted his seventh consecutive 100-yard game, rushing for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
Navy's Brian Broadwater had a pair of touchdown passes, including a 78-yarder to Ryan Reed and an 11-yarder to Travis Williams.
