Fischetti Named Softball Pitcher of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, MA-- Boston College sophomore Lauren Fischetti (Brightwaters, NY) was named BIG EAST Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 20. The award marked the third time this season that a member of the Boston College softball team has earned BIG EAST Conference weekly honors.
Fischetti led the Eagles to five conference wins last week. The sophomore pitcher registered three victories, including two shutouts, and also recorded two saves. Fischetti pitched a complete game against Connecticut on April 14, allowed only three hits, and led the Eagles to a 2-0 victory.
She also pitched a complete game against Rutgers on April 18, allowing six hits and three runs, as Boston College defeated the Scarlet Knights, 7-3. Fischettis third win of the week was on April 19 when the Eagles defeated Rutgers, 14-0. The sophomore currently leads the Boston College pitchers with a 14-3 record.
Three Eagles have received BIG EAST weekly honors this season. In addition to Fischetti, sophomore Mary Dietz earned BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors. Freshman Jennifer Perrotta was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week.
Boston College has already clinched the BIG EAST North title and will compete in the conference tournament at Notre Dame on May 2-3. The Eagles are currently 32-8-1 with six games remaining on the regular season schedule.
