Eagles Sweep BIG EAST Opener

Chestnut Hill, Mass-Junior Mary Dietz(San Manuel, AZ) pitched a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to pick up her third win of the season in 4-0 decision over the Redstorm on Saturday afternoon at Shea Field.
In game one the Eagles got all the runs they would need in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by junior Jen Lombardi(Canton, OH). In the home half of the third junior Julie Ulbrich hit her first home run of the year to stretch the lead to 3-0.
Dietz went the distance for the sixth time this season, upping her strikeout total to 84.

In game two the Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth on two unearned runs. The two runs proved to be enough for the Eagles.
Junior Gretchen Thompson pitched a solid six innings, allowing no runs on four hits in the 5-0 win.
