Eagles Honored With Three Northeast All-Region Selections

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS.---The Boston College softball team had three players named to the Louisville Slugger 1999 Northeast All-Region Team.
Junior Chris Vicari (Totowa, NJ) and sophomore Summer Jarratt (Manhattan Beach, CA) were named to the First Team, while junior Mary Dietz (San Manuel, AZ) was honored as part of the Second Team.
Vicari finished second on the team in hitting with a .356 average, pounding a team-high eight home runs and 38 runs batted in. The junior led the Eagles in fielding with a .988 fielding percentage making only three errors in 246 attempts.
A member of the All-BIG EAST Rookie Team a year ago, Jarratt led the team this year with a .373 average at the plate. The sophomore played in all 47 games with 45 starts. She knocked in 19 runs and was solid behind the plate for the Eagles with a .982 fielding percentage. She is also a member of the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
A member of the All-BIG EAST First Team, Dietz was named to the All-Region Team after leadsing the Eagles for the third straight year on the mound with a 12-8 record and 2.12 earned run average. In 27 appearances, Dietz pitched 15 complete games with 195 strikeouts. She broke the BIG EAST strikeout record on April 11th when she struck out 17 in the 6-0 win over Seton Hall.
The Eagles finished the season with a 27-20 record. Boston College fell short of their third straight BIG EAST Title when Seton Hall defeated the Eagles, 4-3, in the semi-finals of the BIG EAST Tournament.||
