David Ayer is in his sixth year as associate athletic director of business operations, but his 23rd year at Boston College. In his role, Ayer monitors daily business operations, administrative budgets and assists with the overall athletic department financial forecasts and long-range fiscal and strategic planning. He also helps to manage the day-to-day human resources area of the athletic department.Â
Ayer also acts as a professor at the Woods College of Advancing Studies where he teaches sports finance within the sports administration graduate program.Â
Since arriving at the Heights 23 years ago, Ayer has worked various roles such as assistant athletic director of business operations, associate director of business operations, business manager, travel administrator, assistant business manager and business administrative assistant.Â
He is a member of the College Athletic Business Managers Association and acted as the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer chair from 2020-2023.Â
A four-year member of the basketball team, Ayer graduated from Endicott College in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in sports management. He earned a master’s degree in business administration from Boston College in 2007.Â
Ayer resides in Harwich, MA with his wife, Jen and two children, Tyler and Emma.Â
