Tyler Futrell enters his first season as the program's Director of Basketball Operations at Boston College.
Futrell returns to Chestnut Hill after serving as a graduate manager with the Eagles during the 2021-22 season. Originally from Charleston, S.C., Futrell earned his master's degree in sports administration from the Woods College of Advanced Studies at Boston College in 2022.
"I am really excited to have Tyler join our program. Â He has been a part of my staff in different capacities for six seasons," Grant said. Â "Tyler is a very loyal person and has a great work ethic. He has always been a servant leader, doing all he can to make the players and staff members better. He has a bright future as an administrator and I look forward to welcoming him back to the Heights!"
During the 2023-24 academic year, Futrell was an event operations and facilities assistant with College of Charleston Athletics, serving as the on-site manager and facility scheduling coordinator for a number of sports. Â From 2022-23, he was the iCharleston Site Director in Dublin, Ireland for CofC's study abroad program. Â He organized programming opportunities, served as a mentor and advisor to students, and designed, implemented, and taught an introductory class as part of the required curriculum.
From 2017-22, Futrell served as head team manager under head coach Earl Grant while an undergraduate at College of Charleston. Â In that role, he managed road game and day-to-day practice logistics, while also assisting in film preparation for the coaching staff. Â Futrell also served as a peer academic coach for two years at CofC, working with incoming freshmen and at-risk students, helping create academic schedules and serving as a resource for any concerns.
Futrell earned a bachelors degree in history from the College of Charleston in 2021.
