Ty Pezza and Trevor Foley both ranked in the top 10 in the league in receiving yards per game, with each player earning Second Team All-Ivy honors.
Prior to arriving in Providence, Breiner spent three seasons as Assistant Quarterbacks Coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars under Head Coach Doug Petersen. Breiner oversaw a Jaguars passing game that finished in the top 10 in yards per game in two of his three seasons in Jacksonville. He had a previous stint in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020 as Pass Game Analyst before his time with the Jaguars.
Â
Before arriving in Philadelphia, Breiner held two coaching positions at the FBS level, including one year as Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers Coach at FIU in 2021, and two years as Passing Game Coordinator/Quarterbacks at Mississippi State.
Â
Breiner spent six seasons at Fordham before arriving in Starkville, the last two of which he served as Head Coach. After a four-year run as Offensive Coordinator, he was named Head Coach of the Rams ahead of the 2016 season at the age of 32. In his two years at the helm, Breiner oversaw one of the most prolific offenses in all of FCS Football, ranking fourth nationally in 2016 in total offense (498.2 yards per game) and scoring offense (40.1 points per game). Garrick Mayweather Jr. and Chase Edmonds both earned All-America honors while Breiner was Fordham’s Offensive Coordinator in 2015, and Edmonds went on to be a fourth round NFL Draft pick (134th overall) of the Arizona Cardinals in 2018.
Â
Breiner earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Lock Haven University in 2006. He played both wide receiver and on special teams throughout his four-year career and earned a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award from the Central Pennsylvania chapter for his accomplishments athletically, academically and in the community.
