Eagles Ready to Host Fourth Annual Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. — The Boston College men's golf team will begin the 2026 fall season hosting the Red Bandanna Invitational on Sept. 6 through Sept. 7. This will be the fourth time the annual event is being held. Hosted at the Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y., the competition will include three rounds and 54 holes of golf.
Voted the #1 Best Golf Course in the state of New York in 2025 by Casino Player Magazine, the Kaluhyat Course measures 7,105 yards.
The invitational is played in honor of Welles Crowther '99, who tragically passed away in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. "The Man in the Red Bandanna," Crowther is remembered for courageously saving over a dozen lives in the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Crowther always wore his red bandanna ever since he was a little kid, growing up in Nyack, N.Y. He worked as an equities trader and was also a volunteer firefighter, making saving lives a priority in his own life.
Last season, the Eagles took home first place in a field of 11 teams, where they won the invitational for the second straight season. The maroon and gold won in a playoff. Current Eagle Markus Lam and former BC golfer Jack Pogerelc both tied for first overall, shooting 4-over-par, while Tony Yin placed tied for sixth.
The first day will include the first two rounds of the invitational, with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. The second day will see the final round begin at the same time.
