Eagles Qualify for Four Events at NCAA East First Round

Segalla, Gardiner, Millerova and 4x400 team look to qualify for Finals in Eugene, Oregon
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Women's Track and Field's Sydney Segalla, Imogen Gardiner, Natalie Millerova, and the 4x400 Relay group of Anna Becker, Gina Certo, Anna Sonsini, and Segalla have qualified for the 2026 NCAA Division I East First Round, hosted at the UK Outdoor Track & Field Complex in Lexington, Kentucky. Action begins on Wednesday, May 27, and can be seen on ESPN+.

The top 12 competitors from each individual event and the top 12 teams from each relay event advance from each first round.

Segalla is scheduled to race in the First Round of the 400m on Thursday, May 28, at 7:25 p.m. EST. She enters regional with the fifth fastest time in the East Region and ninth fastest in the NCAA after claiming the ACC 400m title last weekend in Louisville. The Salisbury, Connecticut native, is set to compete in her first NCAA Regional and will look to become the first athlete in program history to qualify for the Finals. Segalla is coming off an outdoor season that saw her break her school record in the 400m twice, as well as record a New England record and Duke Facility record in the event.

Gardiner is scheduled to race the First Round of the 1500m on Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. EST, as well as the 5000m Semifinal on Saturday, May 30, at 8:10 p.m. EST. She is coming off last week's ACC Championships, where she earned All-ACC Second Team honors in the 1500m. The Sydney, Australia native set her qualifying time in the 1500m earlier this season at the Bryan Clay Invitational, also breaking a school record, and set a qualifying time for the 5000m at Penn Relays. She looks to join Shannon Smith and Angie Graham as the only athletes to qualify for the 1500m Finals in Eugene, and the first in the 5000m since 2004.

Millerova will also compete in the First Round of the 1500m on Thursday, May 28, at 6:30 p.m. EST. She qualified after setting a personal best time of 4:16.11 at the Duke Twilight on May 3, and is most recently coming off a top-20 finish in the 1500m at ACC Championships. She will look to join Gardiner in the 1500m Finals.

The women's 4x400m Relay team is set to race in the Quarterfinal on Saturday, May 30 at 8:45 p.m. EST. The team currently holds the 21st fastest time in the East Region after running the school-record mark at the Tom Jones Memorial on April 16. The group is coming off a fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships last weekend and previously earned All-ACC honors at the ACC Indoor Championships. They look to become the first relay group in this event to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
