The Hurricanes got the scoring started right away when a single to left brought in two runs, making it 2-0 after one inning.Â
Miami would make it 5-0 after two when they launched a three-run homer to deep center field.Â
The Eagles cut into the deficit at the top of the third inning when Ty Mainolfi launched a double down the left field line, which helped bring in Owen DeShazo from second to make it 5-1 in favor of the Hurricanes. The next at-bat, then, saw Nick Wang launch his fourth home run of the season to cut the deficit to 5-4.Â
Miami would push the lead back to two in the bottom of the third, when a single to right field brought in a run.Â
The game settled down after that as both pitchers settled into the game until the bottom of the seventh when the Hurricanes drove a single to center to bring a runner in from second.Â
The Eagles returned the deficit to two runs when Wang hit a sacrifice fly to left field, which allowed Julio Solier to score from third.Â
Boston College got two more runs in the top of the ninth when the Eagles put runners on first and second before Luke Gallo drove in a run on a single to right field. Kyle Wolff then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, which tied the game up at seven.Â
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Hard retired the first two batters he faced before allowing a single. He then struck out the final batter to force extra innings.
In the tenth, the Eagles went quickly, and after Hard walked, his first batter was aided by a double play from Gallo to help him out of the inning.Â
In the top of the 11th, Boston College loaded the bases and was able to get a run across the plate when Esteban Garcia took him on a dropped third strike to Solier that made its way to the backstop.Â
