Baseball Travels to FIU for Midweek Series

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College baseball travels to Miami this week for a midweek series against Florida International. The Eagles and Panthers will play two games on Mar. 3 and Mar. 4, with both starting at 6:00 p.m. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
Record vs the Panthers
This will be the first meeting between the two programs since 2012. FIU leads the series 5-4 and has won the last two meetings.
Scouting the Weekend
FIU enters the midweek series at 7-5 after splitting its weekend matchup with Stony Brook. The Panthers had dropped four straight before they defeated the Seawolves 10-9 on Saturday. FIU's top hitter this season is Samuel Fischer, who is hitting .447 with nine RBIs and three home runs.
On Tuesday, Drew Grumbles will take on the Panthers' Julian Mlodzinski. Last Sunday, Grumbles made his BC debut against Northwestern and went three innings with two strikeouts and gave up one unearned run. Mlodzinski has made four appearances this season for FIU, including one start, which came against then-10th-ranked Florida. Mlodzinski has a 6.48 ERA in 8.1 innings of work this season with eight strikeouts.
Wednesday's starters are to be determined.
Last Time Out
Boston College traveled to FGCU this past weekend and went 1-2. The Eagles beat FGCU on Friday night, 10-4, before dropping the last two games. Offensively, Boston College was led by Julio Solier, who went 5-12 with three extra base hits, three RBIs, and four stolen bases. The Eagles received offensive contributions from Ben Williams, Ty Mainolfi, and Nick Wang. On the mound, Gavin Soares and Brady Miller combined to throw five scoreless innings with three hits allowed and nine strikeouts between the two.

After the midweek series with Florida International, the Eagles' trip will wrap up with the beginning of ACC play at Miami from March 6-8.
