Women's Basketball Suffers Loss to Syracuse

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball fell to Syracuse, 93-59, on Thursday evening in Conte Forum. The Eagles drop to 4-21 and 0-12 in ACC play, while the Orange move to 19-3 and 9-3 in the league.
Lily Carmody and Jocelyne Grier led the way with a team-high 15 points. Carmody shot an efficient 6-of-8 from the field, and Grier hit six field goals, with half coming from beyond the arc.
Erin Houpt rounded out the leading scorers with 11 points, with all three of their baskets from deep. Kaia Henderson led the team with four assists.
Syracuse started 9-of-17 from the field in the first, leading to a 19-8 lead late in the opening period. The Eagles ended the final 3:21 on an 8-2 surge after Grier started the surge with a trifecta. BC scored the final five thanks to an
Athena Tomlinson 3-pointer and a Carmody layup just before the buzzer, slicing the gap to five, 21-16.
'Cuse pulled away in the second quarter, as they outscored BC 16 and limited the Eagles to a pair of field goals. Syracuse shot 61.3 percent in the frame en route to a 42-21 lead going into the break.
The visitors maintained control throughout the rest of the contest to secure the win.
BC returns to action on Sunday for a 2 p.m. road contest against Clemson.
