Eagles Come Up Short in 2–1 OT Loss to Providence

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College fell 2–1 in overtime to Providence on Friday night at Kelley Rink, as the Friars netted the game-winning power-play goal 3:43 into the extra session.
The Eagles struck first midway through the opening period, converting on the power play at 2:55 of the first. Maxim Tremblay finished a setup from Lauren Glaser, giving BC an early 1–0 advantage.
Providence answered later in the frame, evening the score on a power-play tally at 6:10. The two teams remained deadlocked through the remainder of regulation, with both goaltenders standing tall in a tightly contested matchup.
Boston College held the edge in shots on goal during regulation and controlled much of the faceoff circle, winning 59.6 percent of draws. The Eagles generated consistent pressure in the offensive zone, finishing with 36 shots, including 16 in the second period.
Senior goaltender Grace Campbell delivered a strong performance between the pipes, stopping 30 shots and making several key saves to keep BC level throughout regulation. Campbell turned aside 12 shots in the third period alone as Providence pushed for the winner.
The Friars ultimately capitalized on a power play in overtime, scoring the deciding goal to secure the 2–1 victory.
Boston College (13-17-1, 11-9-1 Hockey East) returns to action on Sunday when the Eagles face Northeastern at Bentley Arena.
