Eagles Set 3-Point Record in Setback to NC State

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball suffered a 106-84 loss to NC State on Thursday evening in Conte Forum.
The Eagles drop to 4-19 and 0-10 in the league, while the Wolfpack improve to 15-6 and 8-2 in the league.
It was a career day for Jocelyne Grier, who paced the Eagles with a career-high 23 points on eight field goals, including five treys. She also tied the team lead with a personal-best seven rebounds. Erin Houpt poured in a season-high 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting with four trifectas and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the line.
Grier and Houpt combined for nine 3-pointers, leading the offense from deep. Seven Eagles hit at least one trifecta en route to a new program record 16 3-pointers.
Teionni McDaniel rounded out the leaders with 14 points, shooting 50 percent from the field. Kaia Henderson dished out a personal-best five assists off the bench.

BC trailed by seven before a three-point play by Kiera Edmonds, and a trey from Amirah Anderson sliced the deficit to one. NC State scored the final four points of the period to take a 27-22 advantage into the second.
A field goal from Houpt closed the gap to one possession, 35-33, with 7:08 left in the half. However, the Wolfpack stretched their lead to 11 after a pair of free throws, and eventually went into the half with a 57-48 lead. Eleven of BC's field goals were from beyond the arc, shooting 45.8 percent from 3-point land.
The visitors used a strong start to the half to stretch their lead to 17. BC was able to get the deficit to within eight thanks to a Kayla Rolph layup. NCSU answered with five straight points to end the third, with the run carrying over into the fourth, leading to the Wolfpack pulling away for the win.
NC State shot over 60 percent from the field and hit 22 free throws. Both teams combined for 24 3-pointers in the high-scoring affair.
