MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Sophomore forward James Hagens was named a nominee for the 2026 Hockey Humanitarian Award on Tuesday afternoon.
Hagens is one of 12 nominees for the award, which is presented annually to college hockey's finest citizen — a student-athlete who makes significant contributions not only to his or her team but also to the community-at-large through leadership in volunteerism.
Prior to the start of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship, Hagens teamed up with Feeding America to create Hagens' Helpers, aiming to bring hope, health, and support to individuals and families who need it most.
Alongside this, Hagens also participates in numerous initiatives with the Boston College men's hockey program, including Skate with the Eagles, the annual Holiday Toy Drive, Movember, and several more throughout the year.
Finalists for the 2026 Hockey Humanitarian Award will be announced in February. This year's recipient will be announced on Friday, April 10th during the NCAA Men's Frozen Four weekend in Las Vegas.
