
Eagles Suffer Setback at Virginia Tech

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Boston College women's basketball suffered a 78-56 setback to Virginia Tech in Cassell Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
The Eagles drop to 4-15 and 0-6 in the ACC, while the Hokies improve to 13-5 and 3-3 in the league.
Amirah Anderson turned in an efficient performance with a team-high 14 points on 3-of-6 shooting. All three of her field goals were from beyond the arc, and she went 5-of-5 from the line. The freshman and Kiera Edmonds led the team in rebounding with five boards.
Erin Houpt went a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, tallying 12 points to round out the leading scorers.
VT started the game on a 7-2 run until Jocelyne Grier closed the gap to one possession with a basket. The Hokies put together an 11-0 run over the next 2:26 of the quarter to go up by 14, and ended the quarter with a 22-9 lead.
The Hokies continued to lead by more than 10 points, growing their lead to as much as 27 in the fourth. The hosts shot 50 percent from the field and scored 40 of their points inside.
BC attempted 31 free throws and went 5-for-11 from deep.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday against Stanford at 6 p.m.
