BC Suffers Setback to Stanford

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball fell to Stanford on Thursday evening in Conte Forum, 77-52.
​The Eagles drop to 4-16 and 0-7 in league action, while the Cardinal improves to 15-4 and 4-2 in the ACC.
​Kayla Rolph led three players in double figures, tying a season best with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Half of her field goals came from beyond the arc with three trifectas. Amirah Anderson scored 14 points, and Lily Carmody registered 11 to round out the leading scorers.
​Athena Tomlinson paced the team with five rebounds and five assists.
​The Cardinal set the tone with a quick start, as they made 10-of-16 field goals in the opening quarter. Anderson helped the Eagles cut an eight-point deficit early in the first to three,12-9, after five quick points. However, the visitors ended the quarter on an 8-0 surge to claim a 20-9 advantage.
​Stanford continued its offensive outburst in the second quarter to stay in front, shooting over 50 percent en route to a 28-point lead at the half. The Cardinal wouldn't relinquish its double-digit lead, pulling away for the win.
​BC returns to action on Sunday against California at 12 p.m. in Conte Forum.
