Lonergan, Thornton Earn ACC Player of The Week Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College's Dylan Lonergan and Omar Thornton earned ACC weekly awards on Monday as the Quarterback of the Week and Defensive Back of the Week. The duo marks just the second pair of teammates to be selected for an ACC weekly award this season.
Last week at Michigan State, Lonergan completed 34 passes on 45 attempts with a career-high 390 passing yards and four touchdown passes. His 34 completions were the most by a Boston College quarterback since Phil Jurkovec completed 37 passes vs. North Carolina on October 3, 2020.Â
On defense, Thornton totaled a career-high 11 tackles, including two for loss. His previous career high in tackles was nine, which came last season vs. Louisville (10/25). In addition, Thornton sacked Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles for a 7-yard loss in the fourth quarter of the contest, his first career sack.Â
Boston College (1-1, 0-0 ACC) will travel to Stanford (0-2, 0-0 ACC) for their first conference matchup on Saturday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m. PDT. The game can be seen on the ACC Network.
