Eagles Bounce Back with Win over Northeastern
September 02, 2025 | Men's Soccer
NEWTON, Mass. – An early penalty kick from Ask Ekeland and a shutout from Andrej Borak propelled the Boston College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Northeastern in non-conference action on Tuesday evening at the Newton Soccer Complex. Borak made six saves to earn his second clean sheet of the year, while Ekeland's strike was his first of the campaign.
BC improves to 2-2-0 on the season, while Northeastern drops to 1-2-1.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 10th minute when Ekeland scored on a penalty kick. Dylan Mafong drew the foul after dribbling his way through several Northeastern defenders before being taken down.
Borak made a huge stop early in the second half. A deflected Northeastern shot fell to Huskies winger Neil, who took an immediate shot that Borak saved with a quick reaction.
Just a few minutes prior to the Borak save, Mafong nearly grabbed the first goal of his collegiate career with a strike from distance, but his shot was saved with an acrobatic effort by Northeastern goalkeeper Tobias Jahn.
BC held the edge in shots (15-14) and corner kicks (6-3).
The Eagles move to 15-1-1 all-time against the Huskies and extend its four-game winning streak.
ACC play gets underway this coming weekend as Boston College hosts California on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
