
Lam, Eagles Champion The Red Bandanna Invitational

VERONA, N.Y. – The Red Bandanna Invitational at Turning Stone Resort went to a playoff for the second straight year, as junior Markus Lam withstood senior teammate Jack Pogorelc on the Kaluhyat Course.
Lam's chip-in shot on the 18th hole put both Eagles at 4-over after 54 holes of play to force a playoff. In the 18th hole playoff, Pogorelc shot par, while Lam backed up his previous shot with another birdie to confirm the tournament victory.
As a team, Boston College finished first for the second straight season at 33-over par, outscoring runner-up South Dakota (307-297-304=908) by 11 strokes. The Eagles recorded a 54-hole team score of 897 (296-304-297), as three players finished in the top ten of the invitational.
Lam and Pogorelc logged a score of 4-over par after Monday's final round. Pogorelc's round 3 score of 71 the second best across the tournament, and Lam recorded a pair of 74's and a 72 in the final round of play.
Freshman Tony Yin (73-78-74=225) tied for sixth in his first collegiate tournament to round out Boston College's top ten finishers. Fellow freshman Connor Chisum tied for 14th (76-72-82=230), while juniors Ben Paylor (78-79-76=233) and William Musson (74-79-80=233) tied for 19th.
Sophomore Tommy Mangan (75-83-83=241) was the final Eagle to finish, tying in 43rd.
Boston College is back on the course next weekend, as it competes in the Bryan National Collegiate, held in Greensboro, N.C., from Sept. 6-7.
