
Drion and Weber Combine to Defeat Maine

Orono, ME - No. 8 Boston College (1-0) defeated the Maine Black Bears (0-1) by a score of 2-0 on Friday afternoon to open their season.
The Eagles got on the board a minute in when Madelieve Drion redirected Klara Mueffelmann's centering pass after a fast break opportunity.Â
Melea Weber doubled Boston College's advantage after she tapped in a rebound following a shot from Drion, eight minutes after Drion had opened the scoring.Â
Carine Van Wiechen helped preserve the shutout in the 51st minute when she made a pad save following a penalty corner for Maine. Van Wiechen and Charlotte Kramer combined for the shutout as each recorded a save.Â
The Eagles had the edge in shots (15-3), shots on goal (11-2), while the Black Bears had the edge in penalty corners (9-4) and saves (8-2).Â
Up next: Boston College is back in action tomorrow as they finish their trip when they take on Indiana at 1 p.m.
